Bronx Opera’s Messiah

Flora will make her debut with the Bronx Opera in their upcoming rendition of Handel’s Messiah. The performance will take place at Lehman College (250 Bedford Park Blvd. West) in Bronx, New York on December 13, 2009
“American (tele)Visions”
October 22, 2009
On October 21, Flora performed the role of Erica in a staged reading of American (tele)Visions, a new play by Victor Cazares. Selected into The Dark Night Reading Series by The Red Fern Theatre Company for its social consciousness, the performance, under the direction of Michael Walkup, marked the play’s New York City debut at the Marjorie S. Deane Theater on 4 W.64th St.

On August 25th, Flora performed after the renowned Mexican cabaret singer, Astrid Hadad, in the Trasnocheo Series. This year’s Encuentro, sponsored by the Hemispheric Institute of Performance & Politics at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, was held at the National University of Colombia in Bogota.

Flora was selected to participate in the EmergeNYC (Hemispheric Emerging New York Performers Program), sponsored by the Hemispheric Institute of Performance & Politics. Conducted at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, she concluded her study of embodied political performance art with a final collaborative presentation on June 19, 2009.

Flora won the Galli-Campi Award for Best Coloratura at the Opera Theater of Connecticut’s Amici Vocal Competition on Saturday, May 16, 2009, held a the Andrews Memorial Theater in Clinton, Connecticut.
